Brief Project Description
Professor Hoffmann's work on the 9/11 simulations does accurate modeling of the structural response of the World Trade Center's North Tower to the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. This project, in collaboration with Professor Sozen from Purdue's Civil Engineering Department and Professor Voicu Popescu in Computer Science, uses sophisticated Finite Element packages and visualization software to compute, visualize and analyze the effects of the attacks to help understand the collapse of the building.
Rosen Center staff have supported this work, and helped access the compute resources needed.
