Noah Diffenbaugh

Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences
Purdue University

Brief Project Description:

Professor Diffenbaugh has used computational resources at the Rosen Center to do global and regional climate modeling. In particular, the RegCM3 code was used to do climate change studies over the contiguous United States at a higher resolution than any previous study. This research work was described in an article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences -- PDF .

Along with Professor Robert Trapp, Professor Diffenbaugh has also been studying the effects of global warming on the number of severe storms in the future and has discovered a dramatic increase in potential storm conditions for some parts of the United States. Their findings are described in an article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences -- PDF.
