Read about Saul Rosen

The Rosen Center for Advanced Computing (RCAC) is a research computing center at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. It is named in memory of Saul Rosen who served as director of Purdue's Computing Center from 1968 to 1987, and who helped to establish Purdue as a pioneering academic institution in high performance computing.

The Rosen Center is a component of ITaP, the Information Technology at Purdue organization. RCAC provides advanced computing resources and services to support the computationally intensive research of Purdue faculty and staff. RCAC also conducts its own research and development to enhance the capabilities of these resources.

Mission of RCAC

The Rosen Center for Advanced Computing provides access to leading-edge computational and data storage systems, as well as expertise in a broad range of high performance computing activities. To fulfill our mission, we:

  • evaluate, deploy and support hardware and software for large-scale scientific computing;
  • promote the effective use of our computing systems and application software through training and education, consultation, and documentation;
  • contribute to the discovery process through algorithm design and the development of effective computing techniques; and
  • partner with researchers to develop grant proposals by providing expertise in the assessment of hardware and software requirements.
