Interested in learning more about real applications of High Performance Computing in the Sciences?
Dr. Carpenter currently manages the benchmarking group at SGI, which ports and runs customer applications to determine their performance on SGI systems. She has experience parallelizing and optimizing a variety of weather and climate models and is particularly interested in the methods and architectures used for high performance scalable computing. She holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an A.B. in Chemistry from Cornell University. She did post-doctoral research in computational chemistry at UC Irvine and the University of Minnesota before joining Cray Research in 1992. Please join us for this exciting seminar! We will be covering real world research examples in different scientific disciplines including Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, and Environmental Science.
