Steele Linux Cluster software upgrade postponed

July 14, 2009

The Steele Linux cluster system software upgrade that was scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday, July 14-16, has been postponed due to NFS automount problems detected by RCAC staff during pre-production testing.  New dates for the software upgrade will be announced after RCAC staff have confirmed the NFS automount problems have been resolved.

The Steele cluster will be unavailable from 8am-11am Tuesday, July 14, while firmware upgrades are applied to the RCAC home and scratch BlueArc file servers.  Only those PBS jobs with walltimes short enough that they will finish prior to  the beginning of this maintenance period are being scheduled for execution -- jobs with longer walltimes will be held in the input queue until the BlueArc maintenance has been completed.
