October seminar to present MATLAB tutorial for both new and experienced users

  • Events

A two-part tutorial covering MATLAB for both new and more experienced users will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Lawson Computer Science Building, Room 1142.

Anyone interested in learning about MATLAB is welcome to attend the free event. Registration also will be held from 3-3:30 p.m. the day of the event. Walk-ins are welcome.

The first part of the tutorial, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., will offer an introduction to data analysis with MATLAB targeted for users who are new to MATLAB or even just curious about the software, which is widely used in engineering, science, economics and other fields. The session will cover importing, analyzing and visualizing data in MATLAB.

Following a pizza break, the second part of the tutorial, from 6-8 p.m., will cover MATLAB features for high-performance computing, such as its parallel computing toolbox and distributed computing server capability. The session will be especially useful for users who want to employ MATLAB on Purdue’s Community Cluster Program supercomputers and on DiaGrid, the Purdue-based distributed computing system.

The tutorial is sponsored by the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing, ITaP’s research computing unit, and by MathWorks.
