Conte Cluster System Upgrade
On Tuesday and Wednesday, July 22-23, 2014, the Conte cluster will be unavailable for system upgrades.
During this upgrade, Conte will receive several significant new capabilities:
Infiniband drivers will be upgraded, enabling native Infiniband connectivity between Conte nodes and Xeon Phi coprocessors, and between multiple Xeon Phi coprocessors. The Xeon Phi Manycore Platform Software Stack (MPSS) will be upgraded from version 2.1 to 3.2.1, with many improvements to Offload, Symmetric, and Native mode computation. IP Networking to Conte's Xeon Phi coprocessors is significantly improved. Access to storage from Conte's Xeon Phi coprocessors will be much faster and more reliable. Client software for Conte's Lustre scratch filesystem will be upgraded to 2.4.3 OpenMPI will be upgraded to version 1.8.1, in order to fully take advantage of these new features.
Any PBS jobs which request a walltime which would take them past 8:00am on 7/22/2014 will not start and will remain in the queue until after the maintenance is completed.
