Student HPC Systems Administrator

Description: A student in this position will primarily be working alongside HPC System Administrators on staff and assisting them to do software installation, OS configurations, and other system administration tasks on ITaP Research Computing's resources. Occasional programming/scripting projects (Perl, Python, shell) will be available. The ability to quickly learn new technologies, good written/verbal communication skills is essential. An interest in high performance computing (HPC) and self-motivation is a plus.
Experience:
  • Experience using Linux/Unix systems in a command-line environment.
  • Familiarity or interest in configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Salt, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby or similar.
Majors / Year: Student of any accredited learning institution required, Purdue underclassmen preferred.
Hours: 10–20 hours per week, classes permitting, during normal business hours. Ability to work during summer semester desired, but not required.
Pay: $12.00 / hour (no graduate assistantships)
