Brief: Do you enjoy making data on the web look nice? Can you write and debug code? Seeking students knowledgeable in web code (PHP, HTML, Javascript, SQL) to write plugins and components for HUBzero. You will work under experienced full stack developers.
Description:

The HUBzero student in this position will primarily be working in a collaborative environment to develop and enhance plugins and components for hubs, resource users, and groups. This will involve creating and modifying web-based interfaces to presenting management interfaces to querying and charting data from those databases. The student may also be involved in development of other tools and aid users in using hub resources and assisting in help for those users as experience allows.

The student in this position will work with experienced staff in the support of many existing hubs and staff experienced with hub design and web development. Through this experience, the student will have the opportunity to help design user-facing, web-based database tools as well as learn about how to design the underlying databases that support them. The student will also have an opportunity to become familiar with some of the tools and processes used in content and data management services.

Experience:
  • Experience using Linux/Unix systems required.
  • Experience using scripting languages such as PHP, Perl, Python, or similar required.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL required.
  • Familiarity with Javascript and AJAX preferred.
  • Familiarity with PHP preferred.
  • Familiarity with REST web services preferred.
  • Familiarity with HTML standards and experience with web design preferred.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix shell scripting preferred.
Majors / Year: Freshman and Sophomore in Computer Science, Technology, or Engineering preferred.
Hours: 15–25 hours per week, classes permitting, during normal business hours.
Pay: $12.00 / hour (no graduate assistantships)
