Student HPC Systems Administrator

Job Overview
Majors / Year: Student of any accredited learning institution required, Purdue underclassmen preferred.
Hours: 10–20 hours per week, classes permitting, during normal business hours. Ability to work during summer semester desired, but not required.

Description

A student in this position will primarily be working alongside HPC System Administrators and Data Center Staff assisting them to do hardware and software installation, OS configurations, and other system administration tasks on RCAC's resources. Occasional programming/scripting projects (Perl, Python, shell) will be available. The ability to quickly learn new technologies, good written/verbal communication skills is essential, and self-motivation is a plus. An interest in high performance computing (HPC).

Experience

  • Experience using Linux/Unix systems in a command-line environment.
  • Familiarity or interest in configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Salt, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby or similar.
