Dr. Elham Barezi is a Lead AI Research Scientist working under the supervision of Dr. Carol Song at Rosen Center. Dr Barezi achieved her PhD Degree in AI with her thesis on effiecient and fast methods for multimodal and multi-task learning, and her masters in AI with focus on 3D computer vision to reconstruct 3D videos for soccer games, and her Bachelor degree in computer engineering with a thesis in designing interrupt controllers for Spark microcontrollers.

Before joining RCAC, she worked as a research staff for Michigan State University, and as a project manager at the Center for AI Research at HKUST. She is experienced in the theory of machine learning, multimodal learning, and natural language processing. She has done projects in knowledge base analysis, visual question answering, multimodal therapy and personality recognition,  multi-task and multi-label learning, and investigating compression and sampling methods for large-scale machine learning and deep neural networks.

Elham will contribute to our AI computing efforts, including collaborating on research and cyberinfrastructure proposals, supporting researchers with her AI expertise, and training and engaging researchers to broaden access to AI resources.

Dr Barezi is currently hosting a Deep Learning Series. You can access the resources and videos on the topic. she will be acting as mentor for the Anvil REU 2025 cohorts. To see what she will be working on with her mentees, check out the projects page.
