David LeFevre
Research Solutions Engineer
Dave joined the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing (RCAC) team in February 2024. He joined Purdue as a Unix Support Specialist at the Physics Computer Network (PCN) in February 2012. He became a Unix administrator (specializing in Linux) in June 2014 as a part of the College of Science IT organization.
Before coming to Purdue, Dave filled various roles in varied organizations focusing on IT. He spent 6 years as the Director of Technology Systems at a local non-profit organization, the single IT support person and performing every IT job needed. He also has worked for the Indianapolis Star and News and at an Indianapolis-based ISP. As a grad student, he worked on the staff as a webmaster at IU School of Informatics at IUPUI as that new school was created.
Dave's primary interest in computing has been Linux since the early 2000s and his work with Purdue has let him specialize in that platform.

Other activities and fun facts
- Not only interested in Linux as a professional platform, but is also a long-time Linux user and hobbyist. Likes to purchase and configue Linux-based gadgets, make Linux work on hardware it wasn't originally intended for, and get games to work on his desktop and handheld Linux systems.
- Usually takes one major vacation trip every year. In 2023 it was a cross-country railroad journey.
