Fortress Archive Upgrade

Fortress Globus and SFTP were fully restored by 1:15pm today.

All services and access to Fortress are now operating normally aside from Globus and SFTP. Globus remains down while engineers consult with the Globus/HPSS development team. SFTP will be looked at tomorrow as well.
Anyone using hsi or htar from their own systems directly to Fortress will need to upgrade to the latest versions of these tools from our repositories and/or website. Older versions will no longer work after this upgrade.

Work continues on bringing Fortress back to normal operation. Engineers report significant progress, but the upgrade is taking far longer than projected. We will provide another update by midnight.

The Fortress Archive will be unavailable Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 8:00am EDT for scheduled monthly maintenance.
During this time, Fortress will receive a major upgrade to the HPSS version. Any work which requests files sent to or from Fortress will either block or fail until this maintenance is completed.
Once complete, anyone using hsi or htar packages on their own systems will need to upgrade to the latest versions hosted by Research Computing. This upgrade is not backward compatible.
