Scholar Winter Maintenance

  • Maintenance
  • Scholar

As of 2:30 pm, engineers have completed maintenance and have returned the Scholar cluster back to normal service.

Any PBS jobs that were running have been deleted, as Scholar’s primary batch scheduler has been switched from PBS/Torque to Slurm. Please see the updated Scholar user guide for more information.

If you previously compiled your own applications on Scholar, be aware that we have made changes to the modules environment. Please see this announcement: New Software Stack Available on Scholar

Due to changes in scheduler (from Torque to Slurm), any application built with OpenMPI must be recompiled.

Please review all class materials that may refer to PBS Torque.

Please report any issues to rcac-help@purdue.edu.

The Scholar cluster will be unavailable beginning on Wednesday, December 18th, 2019 at 8:00am, for scheduled maintenance. The cluster will return to full production by Thursday, 19th, 2019 at 11:59pm.

During this time, Scholar’s primary batch scheduler will be switched from PBS/Torque to Slurm. This is a necessary upgrade and will require faculty and students to modify how they interact with the batch system. Please see the updated Scholar user guide for more information.

Any PBS jobs which request a walltime which would take them past the above times will not begin, and due to the batch scheduler change, any jobs in the queue which have not been run will be deleted.
