Campus Alliance for Advanced Visualization (CAAV) conference
Purdue’s Envision Center will host the sixth annual Campus Alliance for Advanced Visualization (CAAV) conference on Nov. 1-4, 2021. Presentations are currently being solicited and those interested in submitting proposals should complete the form by September 3, 2021.
The CAAV conference will focus on collaborative technologies and applications developed to aid in people’s ability to innovate, collaborate and educate from a distance. More information is available on the conference website.
Abstracts are welcomed from both academic and non-academic entities and may address any topic related to extended reality and data visualization. Topics consistent with one of the following tracks are of particular interest:
- Workforce Development, Training, Diversity, and Education. Experience and knowledge in developing and sustaining a highly proficient workforce that realizes the full potential of people in all demographic groups. Examples of relevant topics: training in extended reality (XR) and data visualization, advanced research computing; curriculum development for STEM, computer science, data science, and computational sciences; learning technologies; case studies with underserved communities and groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields; career and workplace improvement (leadership opportunities, coaching and or mentoring opportunities as part of a leadership development experience, community recognition of the value of extended reality and data professionals, creating an inclusive environment); professional development in relevant professional and technical skills, defining extended reality and data visualization career tracks.
- Emerging Technologies. Experience and knowledge relating to the creation and use of emerging technologies to address problems in the physical and life sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, computer science, engineering, education, manufacturing, government and other fields. Submissions to this track may include, but are not limited to: areas including but not limited to collaborative AR/VR, animation, simulation, imaging, photogrammetry, modeling, rendering, human-computer interaction, haptics, fabrication, visualization and immersive experiences.
- Application Development. Experience and knowledge in development of domain-specific software; applications leveraging immersive technologies such as head mounted displays, 3D displays, 3D audio, gesture recognition, spatial sensing, speech recognition, haptics, drones, cameras and omnidirectional treadmills; advanced visualization techniques; optimization and other enhancements that improve accessibility to and fidelity of visualization solutions.
- Open Topics. Current topics of interest related to extended reality, data visualization, funding for data visualization centers, sharing good practices, etc. that do not specifically fit into any of the three tracks listed above.
The conference will be held as an in-person event with a virtual option for those who are unable to attend in person. The registration site is now live and can be accessed.
