CAAV conference happening at Purdue next week
Purdue’s Envision Center will host the sixth annual Campus Alliance for Advanced Visualization (CAAV) conference on Nov. 1-4. Laura Theademan, senior operations manager for the Envision Center, is the conference chair.
The conference focuses on collaborative technologies and applications developed to aid in people’s ability to innovate, collaborate and educate from a distance. More information is available on the CAAV conference website and a full agenda can be found here.
The conference will be held as an in-person event with a virtual option for those who are unable to attend in person. Interested participants can register here.
Roy C. Anthony, the global head of research at the visual effects and animation studio DNEG, and Mark Subbarao, who leads NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio, will deliver keynote addresses.
George Takahashi, lead visualization scientist for the Envision Center, will speak on a panel about diversity and inclusion and deliver a presentation about his collaboration with Dan Milisavljevic, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, regarding supernova remnant VR visualizations and how the technology was used to engage remote students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Several other Purdue faculty members will also speak about their work with virtual and augmented reality.
“The Envision Center is excited to host the sixth annual CAAV conference and share Purdue’s visualization facilities with the CAAV community,” says Theademan.
