Envision Center hosting senior presentations, anniversary open house on April 24

  • Science Highlights

The Rosen Center for Advanced Computing’s Envision Center is hosting an event to showcase the work of their graduating seniors on Monday, April 24 from 1-2:30 pm. The seniors will present their work in a series of lightning talks.

The Envision Center is also celebrating its 19th anniversary with an open house to immediately follow the senior presentations from 2:30-3:30 pm. During the open house, visitors will have the opportunity to experience some of the new technologies and simulations available at the center, including VR data visualization and virtual simulations.

The projects on display will include a supernova in extended reality (XR) built in collaboration with faculty in physics and astronomy, a VR radiation visualization in partnership with researchers in nuclear pharmacy, and virtual labs developed for the College of Engineering.

Kate Koury, a senior in computer graphics technology who will be presenting her work with the Envision Center during the lightning talks, is currently working on optimizing and texturing a model for inclusion in a VR simulation that helps teach people how to drive semi-trucks.

“I have been able to greatly develop my technical skills and know-how while on the job. I love that I can research new technology and try out new approaches to help improve our workflow at the center,” says Koury.

The Envision Center welcomes all visitors to come and congratulate the seniors on their graduation, enjoy some refreshments, and check out the demos at the open house. This event offers a chance to explore the latest virtual reality and simulation technology developments.
