Rossmann Cluster OS Upgrade

March 15, 2014  8:00am – March 16, 2014  5:00pm
Rossmann

During the maintenance scheduled for 3/15/2014-3/16/2014, the Rossmann cluster will be upgraded to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, version 6.

Only those PBS jobs with walltimes short enough that they will finish prior to the beginning of this maintenance period are being scheduled for execution -- jobs with longer walltimes will be held in the input queue until the operating system upgrade has been completed.

Most applications compiled on Red Hat Linux version 5 are expected to continue to function without recompilation. However, some software modules provided on the cluster have been changed. Please update any scripts that refer to old versions of software.

To prepare your applications and workflow for the upgrade, log in to the upgraded frontend "rossmann-rhel6.rcac.purdue.edu". Rossmann jobs can be tested using the queue named "testrhel6", which provides nodes running the RHEL6 operating system.

Finally, following this upgrade, scratch purging will resume on Rossmann's LustreA filesystem. For more on this, please see the news posting Scratch Purging to resume on Coates, Rossmann, Hansen, Carter.
