Final Planned MATH Datacenter Outage: November 6-9,2026
A planned phased outage on November 6-9 will complete the remaining power and facility work, and it is the last intended outage of the renovation project.
Once this work is finished, the datacenter will have 32% more floor space, 60% more usable power, and twice the cooling capacity. That empowers Purdue to increase computing resources available to researchers. Thank you for your patience through each phase of this project.
Outage Window
- Most resources: Friday, November 6, 2026, 5:00 PM – Sunday, November 8, 2026, approximately 6:00 PM.
- Gautschi: Saturday, November 7, 2026, 12:00 AM – Monday, November 9, 2026, approximately 4:00 PM.
What will go offline
The following resources will be unavailable during the outage window and will return to service gradually once power is restored:
- Gautschi (extended through Monday; see below)
- Anvil
- Negishi
- Gilbreth
- Geddes
- Rowdy
- Rossmann
- Scholar
- HubZero
Additional work on specific systems
Gautschi will stay offline through Monday, November 9, while its power busses are connected to the new power feed. Power is expected back around 4:00 PM Monday, and the cluster will return to service after that.
Data Depot
Data Depot will remain online during the outage, but you won’t be able to reach it from any of the clusters listed above until they’re back in service. How does this affect you? Jobs on the affected clusters will not run, and new jobs will not start during this window. Jobs that are not expected to finish before the maintenance begins will not start until after the maintenance window ends. Please plan your work and data transfers around these dates.
