Overview

The Bioinformatics Services at Purdue’s RCAC provides expert support for researchers in genomics, genetics, and computational biology. We assist with complex biological data analysis, including NGS, transcriptomics, and large-scale data management. Our goal is to equip you with the tools and expertise to advance your research and achieve impactful results using advanced computing systems and tools.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower Purdue researchers with innovative bioinformatics solutions, driving discovery through expert data analysis, optimized workflows, and collaborative support. We aim to turn complex biological data into clear, actionable insights, advancing research across diverse scientific fields.

Key Areas of Support

Guidance on Bioinformatics Data Analysis

Provide expert guidance to help you navigate genomics and transcriptomics research. We support whole-genome sequencing, bulk RNAseq, scRNAseq, scATACseq, and emerging technologies like spatial genomics. We can advise you on the best tools, techniques, and workflows to ensure high-quality, reproducible results, empowering you to confidently execute your research.

Workshops and Training

We offer workshops and training sessions tailored to the Purdue research community, covering topics from basic data analysis to advanced workflow management. If there’s a specific topic you’d like to see covered, just let us know. Additionally, our bioinformatics consultations and one-on-one meetings provide real-time support and expert guidance on specific challenges.

Data Management

Our support includes data management strategies, including planning and storage to ensure your research data is organized, secure, and compliant with institutional and federal guidelines. From data storage solutions to managing large-scale datasets, we help you optimize your workflows for efficiency and reproducibility. If you have specific needs or challenges, we're here to assist.

Project Collaborations

We assist with writing the methods section of grant proposals for any funding agency, including NSF, NIH, and USDA. Our support ensures your proposal highlights advanced bioinformatics methods and aligns with the latest research advancements. We also offer co-advising opportunities for post-docs and graduate students, equip your research team, and provide collaboration letters to strengthen your proposal. For broader impacts, we can integrate your generated datasets into training programs to disseminate knowledge across the research community.

Tools and Software Development

We offer specialized software development support to create custom bioinformatics tools and enhance existing open-source programs. Whether you need new, tailored software or modifications to current tools, our team ensures that the solutions meet your research needs and advance your work effectively.

Hosting Datasets

We offer centralized hosting of datasets on fast storage, allowing Purdue researchers to access shared resources quickly, reducing computing time, and fostering collaboration. Our storage options also include solutions for backups, project data, runtime storage, and protected data, tailored to meet diverse research needs.
