Generative AI

RCAC delivered a series of seminars on Generative AI as part of the Spring 2024 training series. Recordings of sessions have been included below, divided by session. This training was provided by RCAC experts and will prepare you with everything you need to know to leverage Generative AI in your research!

Session List

  • Prompt Engineering
  • Underlying Architecture and Mechanics
  • Tuning Custom Models

Prompt Engineering

In this initial RCAC Generative AI Series workshop, attendees will explore the art and science of prompt engineering in the realm of generative AI. This session is designed to provide practical insights into crafting effective prompts to generate more relevant and accurate results. While prior knowledge of deep learning fundamentals will be beneficial, the workshop will offer a broad overview suitable for various participants, from students to faculty. Topics will cover the basics of prompt design, understanding model responses, and strategies for refining prompts for diverse applications in generative AI.

Materials:

Architecture and Mechanics

Part 2 of the Generative AI series will focus on building an understanding of the architecture and mechanics underpinning the GPT models.  The workshop is designed to help participants build a technical foundation to support critical evaluations of advances in LLMs.

Materials:

Tuning Custom Models

Part 3 of the Generative AI series will explore the techniques and strategies for customizing and tuning generative AI models. The workshop is designed to equip participants with practical skills and knowledge to fine-tune their models effectively, focusing on parameter adjustments, dataset selection, and ethical considerations in model development. This session aims to enable participants to apply advanced customization techniques to their generative AI projects, adapting to the latest trends and innovations in the field.
